At Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic, we treat patients for all of their primary care health needs, including diabetes, hypertension, coronary disease, depression, and more. Our on-going primary care is provided to our patients just like any typical family practice, but at no cost. Our patient services include low or no-cost generic prescriptions as needed, with free labs and imaging provided by Roper St. Francis Hospital and free referrals to 19 sub-speciality medical offices for additional treatments.

Free Primary Care
At Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic, our primary care physicians are here to ensure your health and wellness needs are met, from routine screenings and lab work to reproductive care, diabetes monitoring and chronic disease management. Our physicians take a whole-patient view as they develop a care plan for each patient, making free referrals to over 19 sub-specialties including dermatology, psychiatry, ophthalmology and more. As needed, patients will be prescribed free or low cost prescription medications through our patient assistance program.
At Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic, our Cardiologists are here to diagnose, assess and treat patients who may experience conditions and diseases of the cardiovascular system. Consults include those experiencing high blood pressure, heart disease, and many other high risk diseases.
At Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic, we diagnose and treat uninsured adults for disorders of the skin, hair, and nails. In our Clinic, we will assess skin health, cancers, tumors, inflammatory diseases of the skin, and infectious diseases, performing skin biopsies and minor procedures as necessary, in addition to free referrals for surgical procedures when needed.
Free Chronic Disease Management
For those diagosed with high risk and chronic diseases, your physician at Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic will take an integrated care approach to managing a patient's illness including ongoing screenings, check-ups, monitoring and coordinating treatment, and patient education.
At Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic, our gynecology team will assist you for all routine screenings and reproductive health issues, including birth control options. For pregnancy care, we provide free referrals to Our Lady of Mercy Outreach who will assist you at no cost through your first prenatal appointment through labor and delivery to ensure your pregnancy goes smoothly.
Free Labs & Imaging
Thanks to our partners at Roper St. Francis Healthcare, we are able to diagnose illnesses in patients through the use of x-rays, ultrasounds, MRIs, bloodwork and other critical screenings. These services allow us to assess and treat conditions from breast cancer to cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, gastrointestinal issues and more.
At Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic, our ophthalmologist team is here to diagnose and treats all eye conditions and diseases, provide free referrals for eye surgery as needed, and prescribe and fits eyeglasses and contact lenses to correct vision problems.
At Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic, our Orthopedics team will be able to assess conditions of the skeletal system, including free labs and imaging services provided by Roper St. Francis Healthcare to provide treatment for broken bones, compression fractures, stress fractures, dislocations, muscle injury, and tendon tears or ruptures.

Free & Low Cost Prescriptions
Through our patient assistance partnership with Welvista, our clinic is able to prescribe free or low-cost generic prescription medications to our patients at BIFMC, ranging from contraceptives to chronic disease management medications.
At BIFMC, we believe that mental health is as important as physical health, and provide psychiatry consults to patients as needed. Our clinic psychiatrists specialize in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders and can be referred to Clinic patients at no cost by their primary care physician.
Free Reproductive Health Services
From sexual health and education to contraceptive access and screenings, our physicians at BIFMC are here to guide and treat patients for their reproductive health needs. Patients who are in need of pre and post natal care are referred to neighboring Our Lady of Mercy Outreach at no cost.
At BIFMC, our Urology team treats anyone with a problem with their kidneys, bladder, prostate and male reproductive organs. These include a wide range of conditions, including kidney stones, infection, incontinence, sexual dysfunction and pelvic floor problems.
